I recently reminisced about my first encounter with vintage treasures, a journey that began in my childhood at my grandparents' ranch. Nestled amidst the sprawling land was their old ranch house, a relic of the past, abandoned after their six daughters had flown the nest. It was as if they had hastily packed their belongings and relocated to a trailer on the property, leaving behind a time capsule of memories.

Exploring the forgotten corners of that ranch house was a journey back in time. Each box I opened unveiled a world that existed decades before my birth. Among my favorites were the dresses worn by my mother and her sisters. Holding them up, I marveled at how petite they must have been in their youth. The sturdy fabrics and precise stitches were testaments to a bygone era when garments were lovingly crafted by hand, often by my grandmother and her daughters. The thought of not simply buying a dress from a store like K-Mart was unimaginable to me then.

Other boxes contained books, each one emitting a nostalgic scent that piqued my curiosity and lingered in my mind for years to come. The beautiful covers and textured pages were treasures of a different kind, an explosion of the senses. In those days, the idea of defacing these precious volumes never crossed my mind. Yet now, I find myself drawn to paint on their pages, unable to resist adding my own touch. Despite my husband's cautious warnings, my passion for breathing new life into old books persists.

Today, I continue to seek out vintage books—through online purchases, antique shops, or thoughtful gifts from friends. Each new addition to my collection fills my heart with love, possibility, and endless inspiration.
